RE: HISTORY
IN 2003 Gary Sugal visited with a famous boat building firm in Newport RI . He had them create some fiber carbon bar stock that would fit into Sugal’s CNC machining center fixtures.
The material was fabricated into square bar stock : they measured 4 ½ x 1 inch square .However, in the final stages of machining the material broke apart and after several failed attempts the project had to be cancelled.
In May of 2020 Gary Sugal discovered one firm that produced Carbon Fiber that offered material that had a great deal more strength an durability than the 2003 carbon fiber material had.
After six weeks of trial and error testing Sugal was able to produce a tenor mouthpiece that played amazing , He created two models that are currently available : Super Classic II
the Super Classic II actually have the same g/code and i/o dimensions as there CNC metal versions.
This model is ideal for “Pop”, “Contemporary” or “Rock/Fusion” style of playing. The mouthpiece by design is a totally “free blowing” and has a rich “bright” powerful centered sound with lots of “bite” when called for. Ideal for those players who seek ease of playing in the altissimo register.
