1. What is the difference between your CNC,TAM and 3D printed models ?
The main difference is the CNC and TAM models are metal mouthpieces Both models are 18kt Heavy Gold Plated. The 3D printed mouthpieces are produced from a proprietary filament that is “food-safe” and durable… and of course plays amazing .
2. With regard to sound.what is the major difference between the metal versions and your 3D printed models ?
The 3D printed models have the same features as our metal mouthpieces. This includes the same facings measurements (table), interior chamber as well as the “refined-mini” tracks, acrylic bite plate, and slots to hold our built on ligature.
The sound of the 3d printed mouthpieces are close to if not the same as our TAM models. The special filament that we use in 3D printed mouthpieces virtually eliminates that nasal or “kazooish sound” found in other competitive brands made of metal, hard rubber, and plastic. ( In a way you could compare it with the overtones you hear on a piano when you play a chord, a sort of after ring. Our proprietary filament material eliminates most of the harsh nasal rings by absorbing the overtones.
3. Why are you now making 3D printed mouthpieces ?
The equipment we utilize to manufacture CNC metal mouthpiece are know as Computer Numerical Controlled machining centers, (CNC) The initial cost of the equipment and maintenance is expensive. .. back in 1988 the CNC equilpment cost over $250,000.
3D printing machines today are very inexpensive and allows us to use the same gcode programs we use in the CNC machining in the 3D printer.. Thus allowing us to create exact replicas of our premium CNC metal mouthpieces while at the same time reducing the costs of the final product that is past on to the player
All our mouthpieces including CNC , TAM and 3D printed pieces and unlike other manufacturers who import there mouthpieces from China , Taiwan, Japan, and Europe we produce everything in house. This allows us to have complete quality control while overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing process..

8. What is the reed to tip opening relationship ?
The rule of thumb basically is the larger the tip opening the softer the reed should be; or the smaller the tip opening the harder the reed….. i.e. a 6* mouthpiece (tenor) would normally use a harder reed like a 3 or 3 1/2, while a 8* mouthpiece would normally use a softer reed like a 2 1/2 strength reed.
9. What is different about the Granadilla Wood saxophone mouthpieces you make and the 3D printed mouthpiece ?
The wood mouthpieces offer the player a very dry warm centered sound. Both the model I and model II 3d printed mouthpiece are very powerful in volume, articulate and respond differently than wood.
10. What is the difference between a model one(I and a model two(II) ) 3d printed mouthpiece ?
Basically all 3d printed I models are slightly darker than a model II . This is also true with regard to our MB I , MB II , KW I and II.
The YETI is only available as a model II .. It’s baffle is a “hybrid” of a Model I and a Model II (in between them both)
